Sorah An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Verses Number 46
وَالنَّازِعَاتِ غَرْقًا ( 1 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 1
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence;
وَالنَّاشِطَاتِ نَشْطًا ( 2 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 2
By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed);
وَالسَّابِحَاتِ سَبْحًا ( 3 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 3
And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy),
فَالسَّابِقَاتِ سَبْقًا ( 4 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 4
Then press forward as in a race,
فَالْمُدَبِّرَاتِ أَمْرًا ( 5 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 5
Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord),
يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ الرَّاجِفَةُ ( 6 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 6
One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion,
تَتْبَعُهَا الرَّادِفَةُ ( 7 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 7
Followed by oft-repeated (commotions):
قُلُوبٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاجِفَةٌ ( 8 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 8
Hearts that Day will be in agitation;
أَبْصَارُهَا خَاشِعَةٌ ( 9 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 9
Cast down will be (their owners') eyes.
يَقُولُونَ أَإِنَّا لَمَرْدُودُونَ فِي الْحَافِرَةِ ( 10 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 10
They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state?
أَإِذَا كُنَّا عِظَامًا نَّخِرَةً ( 11 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 11
"What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?"
قَالُوا تِلْكَ إِذًا كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةٌ ( 12 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 12
They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!"
فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجْرَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ ( 13 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 13
But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry,
فَإِذَا هُم بِالسَّاهِرَةِ ( 14 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 14
When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment).
هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰ ( 15 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 15
Has the story of Moses reached thee?
إِذْ نَادَاهُ رَبُّهُ بِالْوَادِ الْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى ( 16 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 16
Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:-
اذْهَبْ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُ طَغَىٰ ( 17 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 17
"Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds:
فَقُلْ هَل لَّكَ إِلَىٰ أَن تَزَكَّىٰ ( 18 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 18
"And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?-
وَأَهْدِيَكَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَتَخْشَىٰ ( 19 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 19
"'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'"
فَأَرَاهُ الْآيَةَ الْكُبْرَىٰ ( 20 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 20
Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign.
فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصَىٰ ( 21 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 21
But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance);
ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ يَسْعَىٰ ( 22 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 22
Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah).
فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَىٰ ( 23 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 23
Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation,
فَقَالَ أَنَا رَبُّكُمُ الْأَعْلَىٰ ( 24 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 24
Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High".
فَأَخَذَهُ اللَّهُ نَكَالَ الْآخِرَةِ وَالْأُولَىٰ ( 25 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 25
But Allah did punish him, (and made an) example of him, - in the Hereafter, as in this life.
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَعِبْرَةً لِّمَن يَخْشَىٰ ( 26 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 26
Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah).
أَأَنتُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَمِ السَّمَاءُ ۚ بَنَاهَا ( 27 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 27
What! Are ye the more difficult to create or the heaven (above)? (Allah) hath constructed it:
رَفَعَ سَمْكَهَا فَسَوَّاهَا ( 28 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 28
On high hath He raised its canopy, and He hath given it order and perfection.
وَأَغْطَشَ لَيْلَهَا وَأَخْرَجَ ضُحَاهَا ( 29 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 29
Its night doth He endow with darkness, and its splendour doth He bring out (with light).
وَالْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَاهَا ( 30 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 30
And the earth, moreover, hath He extended (to a wide expanse);
أَخْرَجَ مِنْهَا مَاءَهَا وَمَرْعَاهَا ( 31 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 31
He draweth out therefrom its moisture and its pasture;
وَالْجِبَالَ أَرْسَاهَا ( 32 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 32
And the mountains hath He firmly fixed;-
مَتَاعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَامِكُمْ ( 33 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 33
For use and convenience to you and your cattle.
فَإِذَا جَاءَتِ الطَّامَّةُ الْكُبْرَىٰ ( 34 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 34
Therefore, when there comes the great, overwhelming (Event),-
يَوْمَ يَتَذَكَّرُ الْإِنسَانُ مَا سَعَىٰ ( 35 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 35
The Day when man shall remember (all) that he strove for,
وَبُرِّزَتِ الْجَحِيمُ لِمَن يَرَىٰ ( 36 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 36
And Hell-Fire shall be placed in full view for (all) to see,-
فَأَمَّا مَن طَغَىٰ ( 37 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 37
Then, for such as had transgressed all bounds,
وَآثَرَ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا ( 38 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 38
And had preferred the life of this world,
فَإِنَّ الْجَحِيمَ هِيَ الْمَأْوَىٰ ( 39 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 39
The Abode will be Hell-Fire;
وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِ وَنَهَى النَّفْسَ عَنِ الْهَوَىٰ ( 40 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 40
And for such as had entertained the fear of standing before their Lord's (tribunal) and had restrained (their) soul from lower desires,
فَإِنَّ الْجَنَّةَ هِيَ الْمَأْوَىٰ ( 41 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 41
Their abode will be the Garden.
يَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ السَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْسَاهَا ( 42 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 42
They ask thee about the Hour,-'When will be its appointed time?
فِيمَ أَنتَ مِن ذِكْرَاهَا ( 43 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 43
Wherein art thou (concerned) with the declaration thereof?
إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ مُنتَهَاهَا ( 44 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 44
With thy Lord in the Limit fixed therefor.
إِنَّمَا أَنتَ مُنذِرُ مَن يَخْشَاهَا ( 45 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 45
Thou art but a Warner for such as fear it.
كَأَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَهَا لَمْ يَلْبَثُوا إِلَّا عَشِيَّةً أَوْ ضُحَاهَا ( 46 ) An-Nazi'at ( Those who Pull Out ) - Ayaa 46

  • Ash-Shafi’i's Risala: Treatise on the Foundations of Islamic JurisprudenceImam Shafi on On Legal Knowledge Read Classical – Excerpt Written in the second Islamic century by al-Imam al-Shafi’i (d. 204AH/820AD), the founder of one of the four Sunni schools of law. This important work gives the fundamental principles of Islamic jurisprudence and its influence continues to the present day. During the early years of the spread of Islam, the exponents of Islamic legal doctrine were faced with the problems raised by ruling and administering a diverse and rapidly growing empire. In Medina and Kufa, as well as other cities of early Muslim rule, schools of law had to be developed, but it took the genius of Muhammad b. Idris al-Shafi’i, born in the year 150AH/767AD, to establish the principles by which the various legal doctrines could be synthesised into a coherent system. In the Risala, which laid down the basis for such a synthesis, al-Shafi’i established the overriding authority, next only to the Qur’an, of the Sunnah or example of the Prophet Muhammad as transmitted in the traditions.

  • Enjoining Good, Forbidding EvilIbn Taymiyyah said: "This (enjoining good and forbidding evil) is a duty that the entire Ummah is obliged to fulfil. It is what the Ulama know as an obligation of collective responsibility, if a group in society undertook to discharge it, the other members of this society are absolved from it. The entire Ummah is commissioned to undertake it, but if a group therein was responsible for discharging it, the rest of society is no longer obliged to undertake it."
