Sorah Al-Fajr ( The Dawn ) - Verses Number 30
وَالْفَجْرِ ( 1 ) 
By the dawn
وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍ ( 2 )
And [by] ten nights
وَالشَّفْعِ وَالْوَتْرِ ( 3 )
And [by] the even [number] and the odd
وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَسْرِ ( 4 )
And [by] the night when it passes,
هَلْ فِي ذَٰلِكَ قَسَمٌ لِّذِي حِجْرٍ ( 5 )
Is there [not] in [all] that an oath [sufficient] for one of perception?
أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍ ( 6 )
Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with 'Aad -
إِرَمَ ذَاتِ الْعِمَادِ ( 7 )
[With] Iram - who had lofty pillars,
الَّتِي لَمْ يُخْلَقْ مِثْلُهَا فِي الْبِلَادِ ( 8 )
The likes of whom had never been created in the land?
وَثَمُودَ الَّذِينَ جَابُوا الصَّخْرَ بِالْوَادِ ( 9 )
And [with] Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley?
وَفِرْعَوْنَ ذِي الْأَوْتَادِ ( 10 )
And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes? -
الَّذِينَ طَغَوْا فِي الْبِلَادِ ( 11 )
[All of] whom oppressed within the lands
فَأَكْثَرُوا فِيهَا الْفَسَادَ ( 12 )
And increased therein the corruption.
فَصَبَّ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّكَ سَوْطَ عَذَابٍ ( 13 )
So your Lord poured upon them a scourge of punishment.
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِالْمِرْصَادِ ( 14 )
Indeed, your Lord is in observation.
فَأَمَّا الْإِنسَانُ إِذَا مَا ابْتَلَاهُ رَبُّهُ فَأَكْرَمَهُ وَنَعَّمَهُ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّي أَكْرَمَنِ ( 15 )
And as for man, when his Lord tries him and [thus] is generous to him and favors him, he says, "My Lord has honored me."
وَأَمَّا إِذَا مَا ابْتَلَاهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيْهِ رِزْقَهُ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّي أَهَانَنِ ( 16 )
But when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says, "My Lord has humiliated me."
كَلَّا ۖ بَل لَّا تُكْرِمُونَ الْيَتِيمَ ( 17 )
No! But you do not honor the orphan
وَلَا تَحَاضُّونَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ الْمِسْكِينِ ( 18 )
And you do not encourage one another to feed the poor.
وَتَأْكُلُونَ التُّرَاثَ أَكْلًا لَّمًّا ( 19 )
And you consume inheritance, devouring [it] altogether,
وَتُحِبُّونَ الْمَالَ حُبًّا جَمًّا ( 20 )
And you love wealth with immense love.
كَلَّا إِذَا دُكَّتِ الْأَرْضُ دَكًّا دَكًّا ( 21 )
No! When the earth has been leveled - pounded and crushed -
وَجَاءَ رَبُّكَ وَالْمَلَكُ صَفًّا صَفًّا ( 22 )
And your Lord has come and the angels, rank upon rank,
وَجِيءَ يَوْمَئِذٍ بِجَهَنَّمَ ۚ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَتَذَكَّرُ الْإِنسَانُ وَأَنَّىٰ لَهُ الذِّكْرَىٰ ( 23 )
And brought [within view], that Day, is Hell - that Day, man will remember, but what good to him will be the remembrance?
يَقُولُ يَا لَيْتَنِي قَدَّمْتُ لِحَيَاتِي ( 24 )
He will say, "Oh, I wish I had sent ahead [some good] for my life."
فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُ أَحَدٌ ( 25 )
So on that Day, none will punish [as severely] as His punishment,
وَلَا يُوثِقُ وَثَاقَهُ أَحَدٌ ( 26 )
And none will bind [as severely] as His binding [of the evildoers].
يَا أَيَّتُهَا النَّفْسُ الْمُطْمَئِنَّةُ ( 27 )
[To the righteous it will be said], "O reassured soul,
ارْجِعِي إِلَىٰ رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةً مَّرْضِيَّةً ( 28 )
Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him],
فَادْخُلِي فِي عِبَادِي ( 29 )
And enter among My [righteous] servants
وَادْخُلِي جَنَّتِي ( 30 )
And enter My Paradise."

- Guarding the TongueBefore you is a chapter from the great book "Al-Adhkaar" of the Imam and great scholar of the seventh century, Abu Zakariyyah Yahya ibn Sharaf an-Nawawi. The chapter is entitled "Hifdh-ul-Lisaan" or "Guarding the Tongue." The original source, "Al-Adhkaar," is one of the prize works of Imam an-Nawawi in which he compiles and discusses the texts related to what is recommended and forbidden from speech, focusing on al-adhkaar (words of remembrance) and al-ad'iyah (supplications). In the last part of the book, as he explains, Imam an-Nawawi devotes a chapter to what is forbidden and disliked from speech, such as backbiting, gossiping, and slander. So he brings the evidences from the Qur'aan and Sunnah on the obligation of guarding the tongue from evil speech. This great work was checked and verified by Shaikh Saleem ibn 'Eed al-Hilaali and printed in two volumes. In his verification, Shaikh Saleem provides a grading for each hadeeth as well as a discussion about the reason for the hadeeth's authenticity or weakness. Due to a desire to make the e-book a source of easy reading and benefit, the verification of hadeeths have been limited to just the grade that Shaikh Saleem al-Hilaali has provided and the references of the hadeeth sources they can be found in, while abridging his discussions of certain hadeeths in some places.
